Using Content Intelligence for data anonymisation

About the company

.

Situation before the implementation

The client buys large packages of debts for debt collection and enforcement. The purchase transactions are confirmed with debt assignment agreements, which are submitted in the form of notary-certified paper documents. During the court procedure, the information included in the lists of cases has to be enclosed with the claim. The law also requires redacting the details of debtors that are not relevant to the particular case.

Consequently, the lists of debts were scanned by the client’s personnel, and the details of the remaining debtors were manually redacted. This manual process was very time-consuming and caused many errors, thus delaying the court procedure.

That is why the most important aspect for the client was to accelerate the process of recording the debt assignments, automate the preparation of debt lists for each case, and exclude the possibility of assigning the generated file to the wrong case in the debt collection system.

Solution

After thoroughly analysing the needs of the client, we proposed the ABBYY FlexiCapture system, which (by using the FlexiLayout mechanism and the technology for intelligent identification of data in the documents) can process debt enforcement documents. Flexible layouts can be used for intelligent data identification to recognise and verify an individual record in the list of debts, anonymise the remaining cases, prepare a separate document for every purchased debt, and automatically assign the generated file to the relevant case in the debt enforcement system.

The automation of the anonymisation process for the debt assignment has ensured that paper documents can be processed quickly while maintaining low costs and minimal involvement of the client’s personnel in this process.

Benefits

streamlining the recording and digitisation of debt assignments
preparing readymade attachments to the claim
additional verification of the incoming lists of debts by comparing the data with external databases
shortening the time required to assign the purchased debt to the relevant case in the debt enforcement system (previously, this was done manually)
acquiring additional data from the lists of debts
eliminating the errors occurring during the manual identification and anonymisation of unnecessary records
optymalizacja procesu windykacyjnego (rejestracja plików wywołuje określone zmiany w systemie windykacyjnym)
improved satisfaction of the personnel, who no longer focus on tedious identification and manual redaction of data, but only on the verification of a few data ambiguously identified by the system
